Acupressure is a hands-on technique that is deeply relaxing and can help significantly with pain management, stress reduction, digestive problems, insomnia, chronic illness, emotional balancing, and many other conditions. Treatments provide a deeply nourishing state for letting go of tensions or blockages, allowing for increased comfort, pain relief, physical healing and mind-body integration. Clients report feeling uniquely relaxed, grounded and empowered by feelings of peace, clarity and vitality.
Acupressure originated in China nearly 4,000 years ago, where early healers discovered they could stimulate certain points on the body to assist recovery from illness and promote better health. They mapped energy pathways called meridians throughout the body and explored the connections between vital energy, physical structure, emotional or mental health, and the natural world.
I practice an integrative style of Acupressure that draws upon upon the Five Element tradition of classical Chinese medicine and the chakra system of Ayurvedic medicine, along with contemporary techniques from Soul Lightening Acupressure, Zero Balancing, and Jin Shin Jyutsu.
I also teach individual and group classes in self-care Acupressure techniques, including the Seva Stress Release.
Reiki is a healing touch modality that originated in Japan in the early 20th century, based on the understanding of an unseen life-force energy that flows through all living beings. In Japanese, Rei means universal and Ki means life energy. Today's quantum physics also recognizes energy fields that connect all life and matter. This allows Reiki to be offered successfully in person or at a distance.
Reiki induces a relaxed state that restores balance and ease at the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. This facilitates ones's innate healing capacity, allowing positive transformation to begin.
Hands-on Reiki treatment is delivered through light touch. Reiki may also be offered at a short distance from the body, or via remote sessions. There are no side effects and Reiki can be practiced safely in conjunction with prescription medications, herbal remedies, acupuncture, and all other medical and therapeutic techniques. Adults and children of all ages can benefit from Reiki treatments.
I offer Reiki classes for those interested in learning to do Reiki for themselves or others.
Animals also benefit greatly from Reiki Treatments. See Animal Reiki section below for information about Reiki for companion animals.
Animals are especially sensitive to Reiki energy. Treatments typically take place remotely, which many animals seem to prefer. We may also meet in your home, where I will follow your animal's lead to deliver Reiki either through a light touch or from a few feet away. This may vary from session to session and as your animal gets to know me.
Animal Reiki is appropriate for both physical and emotional/behavioral concerns (such as moving or travel, new animals in the home, stressful situations in the family, or past abuse or trauma). Many animals benefit from having Reiki to help them relax before or after dental work or surgery, or while undergoing medical treatment for acute or chronic conditions. Reiki can also ease a pet's transition at the end of life, while simultaneously supporting the entire family.
Reiki is not a substitute for needed veterinary care but works in harmony with any type of medical treatment.
Qigong is an ancient Chinese healing art that uses breathing, movement, and visualization to cultivate Qi, or universal life force energy. It has been used for centuries to improve physical and emotional wellbeing and harmonize the body, mind, and spirit.
I am a certified teacher of Pan Gu Shengong (aka Pan Gu Mystical Qigong). Developed by Master Ou Wen Wei, PGSG is rooted in a philosophy of kindness and benevolence. It is designed to absorb the beneficial energy of the sun, moon and universal Qi to regulate and enhance the immune system and life force. PGSG is simple to learn, and its benefits to health and well-being can often be experienced immediately. Anyone of any age or physical ability can do the form. Only 20-30 minutes daily practice is required; even deeper healing may be achieved through extended practice.
Since 2019 I have been training with Qigong Master Robert Peng as a Qigong healer. I offer both in-person and remote sessions, or can incorporate Qigong with another modality as needed.
Craniosacral Therapy is a light touch holistic modality that releases tensions within the body’s connective tissue and the central nervous system, allowing other body systems to relax and self-correct.
During a Craniosacral Therapy session, I use a gentle touch to evaluate the client’s craniosacral rhythm, a distinct body rhythm created by the production and flow of the fluids surrounding the brain and spinal cord. The movement of these fluids is reflected in the body’s tissues, which tend to tighten under everyday stresses or as a result of physical or emotional injury. By releasing tensions in fascial (connective) tissue as well as the bony structures of the body, the nervous and immune systems can function more optimally, pain and stress are relieved naturally, and both physical and emotional well-being can thrive.
Craniosacral Therapy is appropriate for many types of acute or chronic pain, tension or imbalance, as well as for other chronic health conditions and emotional well-being. Treatments can help to resolve the key issue(s) you came to address and leave you feeling more resilient or energized, calmer and more relaxed.
Health coaching with a focus on peace of mind, support and resources for stress and pain management
We live in an increasingly stressful world, and this takes a toll on our minds and bodies. Pain symptoms and other health issues may be triggered or exacerbated by stress, making it harder to function well, make decisions, or experience enjoyment in daily life. Tranquility Coaching focuses on discovering and creating peace of mind—which, in turn, benefits all aspects of your health and life.
Tranquility Coaching integrates the holistic nutrition and mentoring approach of Health Coaching with mind-body and stress management techniques drawn from my integrative bodywork practice. Together we’ll look at relevant areas of your diet, lifestyle, and mindset to uncover patterns that may be holding you back and contributing to stress, pain and health challenges. We’ll also use tools from Acupressure, Reiki, Qigong and other modalities to create resources you can use at home to shift into a more relaxed state, feel better and have more ease in your life and health.
All aspects of our lives are connected. I have found that health coaching clients do better when we include bodywork or energy work support for handling stress or emotional challenges, and that bodywork clients often benefit from taking a look at their diet and lifestyle choices. Food, health, and how we handle stress are individual--there is no formula that works for everyone. As we work together, we'll explore flexible and sustainable ways of making positive changes that nourish your whole life and that you'll be able to maintain and enjoy.
Sessions take place online, with relevant materials emailed to you.
